Howard L. Wisely

	Howard L. Wisely, 83, of Vergennes, went to be with the Lord at 10:15 a.m. Friday, July 7, 2000 at Herrin Hospital.
	He was born on June 18, 1917 in Vergennes, the son of Owen Wisely and Rosella (Tuthill) Wisely.  He married Emogene Pyron on February 29, 1936 at Vergennes.
	He was a retired coal miner and a farmer.  Mr. Wisely was the Vergennes Township Road Commissioner for 20 years.  He was a 4-H leader and a softball coach for 25 years.  He was a Christian and a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Vergennes.  He had been a Sunday School Teacher for more than 20 years.  He was a deer hunter, coon hunter and enjoyed championship horse pulling contests.
	Surviving are his wife, Emogene Wisely of Vergennes; three children, Donald Wisely and wife Joyce of Vergennes, Rickey Wisely and wife Beverly of Vergennes and Lenna Reeder and husband John of Vergennes; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
	Funeral services were Monday, July 10 at 10 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church in Vergennes with Rev. Bill Wiggs and Rev. Paul Brown officiating.  Interment was in Parrish Cemetery at Vergennes.
	Friends were able to call from 5 until 8 p.m. Sunday at Pettett Funeral Home in Murphysboro and again on Monday from 9 a.m. until time of services at the church.
	Memorials may be made to the Faith United Methodist Church or to Parrish Cemetery, both of Vergennes.
